Welcome to the Dorset Food & Drink Awards 2021

I’m delighted to announce the launch of the 2021 Dorset Food & Drink Awards. Though we couldn’t hold our usual glittering awards ceremony for last year’s event, yours truly whizzed around the county with face mask, hand sanitiser and a box of trophies to present all our worthy winners with their awards. We adapted the 2020 categories to reflect the lockdown times we were in, so categories included Best Local Food/ Drink Delivery Service, Best Dining Experience to Go and Community Food/Drink Initiative.

We discovered so many inspirational stories along the way, from the well-established adapting their businesses to go online and via social media, to new collaborations popping up to serve the demand for home delivery.

Covid-19 continues to have a huge impact on the hospitality industry. So, as we emerge from lockdown in June, it will be more important than ever to support Dorset’s food and drink businesses, and these awards are one of the ways you can show your appreciation.

Tell us about the Dorset businesses that have been creative in managing social distancing where you shop, and dine, as well as great customer service. The independent shops that stock a wide range of locally sourced produce, including supporting new producers; the chefs that are proudly celebrating Dorset on their menu, the local food and drink experiences that you are really excited about.

The awards will remain open for entries until Sunday 11 July, judging and public vote for each of our categories will follow once the awards close for entries. The finalists of the 2021 awards will be announced on Thursday 9 September in the magazine and online, with the awards ceremony taking place on Monday 4 October at Hilton Bournemouth.

Please do send in your nominations now, and we look forward to seeing you in October at our celebration of all that’s good about Dorset food and drink.
